A grey day... bright thoughts of summer gardens....

Thoughts are forming for this years garden. I have the layout done. The main garden will have the wall of Cosmos. The top will have the big marigolds, doing white this year. Then the Roma Tomatoes and Basil, next row will be a Variety of peppers, then eggplants. We now hit the center of the garden, A tall TP with a vine flower running up, just haven't decided on the color, orange or purple, I am into white this year!, each side will be green and yellow bush beans, then the pea sticks with a couple types of snow peas, and sweet peas.
The next is sectioned out to four spots, chives, onions, carrots and dill. Last row will be two types of cukes and zucchini. Then the two barrels and in between those will be the Shepard's hook with two hanging strawberry's. One barrel herbs, the other blueberries. And I have threee long containers with curly, and flat leaf parsley, nasturtium's ring those, and lettuce will be started in the third. Pots will be filled with annuals and herbs. And the Gourd and pumpkin garden will be the spot that draws your eye, that is this years baby, making that look better than last year! And it looked really nice last year, and pumpkins, cosmos, and nasturtiums came out of that garden. Again picked out flowers that I have no idea how to pronounce!!! LYSIMACHIA... Sounds like a disease!!! The urn is going yellow and billowy, lots of movement. I can't take stiffness in the garden!!!I'll anchor all four corners with a sunflower giant. It blends things in, I have the sunflower garden against the back of the shed, that is getting bigger, but only for tulips in the fall, it will stay sunflowers for awhile, but rotation will apply next year, might do glads, and out house hollyhocks.

INGREDIANTS 1 package active dry yeast 2 1/4 cups warm water (110-115 degrees F). Divided 1/4 cup sugar, divided  1/4 cup molasses 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 tablespoon salt 2 cups cooked wild rice 1 package Sun-Maid Cape Cod Cranberries, chopped 4 cups Bread flour 2 cups whole wheat flour DIRECTIONS In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 the warm water, with i/2 the sugar: Let stand for 10 minutes. Add the molasses, oil, and remaining water and sugar: Mix well. Add wild rice and chopped cranberries. In another bowl mix together both flours with 1 tablespoon salt. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface: Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes, add more flour if needed. Potato Zucchini pancakes

Zucchini, Potato,Rosemary Pancakes with a Raspberry Chipotle Cream Sauce These are my favorite things in the world to make. When I had a garden, and used just picked herbs and Zucchini...Life in the kitchen was so much fun! I will admit I'm not that great with measuring things when I cook with seasonings, everything is pretty much eye-balled. But I did try to figure them out when I did them to write up. These are so very good you will want to make them all summer long!!!! A Perfect Day

It is foggy and dark outside. A perfect day to let the mind wander. It is a full day of Julia Child today, that's been fun this morning. I will get to the movie, maybe this week. Julie & Julia I think it's called. But I learned the secret of popovers! You learn something new everyday. Don't use a pan, use separate custard cups, leaving room between them for the heat to circle, and that is what will make them really pop up. I think I will make some on Monday, I will be home for dinner, so I will make popovers and a shrimp salad. I will be able to use fresh peas. And I am making pesto, Have everything I need, think I will freeze in ice cube trays, then use when needed. And If I want fresh pesto, I only need to buy a container of basil, add a few ice cubes, made it stretch. Pick Sage to dry also, and I have a sage that is getting crowded out, gonna have to move that baby to it's own pot. And with this rain, weeds are growing again. I am hoping Monday is a sunny hot day
