.Gardening on the brain!!!!
The year is on it's way!!! A bit of a cold snap right now, but this to shall pass. The beds have been made bigger, one good deep tilling so far. I was supposed to get compost yesterday, but due to weather conditions that will be delivered later this week. Hopefully the weather will cooperate! And then till again, put up all the poles and decor in it's place, and wait!
As far as what is getting planted, even though the gardens have gotten bigger, I am still going to plant pretty close together, it worked good last year, the only big mess - Tomatoes, those will be cared for better! Now that I know what to do! So the plans are forming...
As far as height in the garden, each corner of the garden will be anchored with a tall sunflower. The center will have a tower of moon flowers, and a cypress vine with small red flowers. The Gourd wall will be the attention getter, growing on that with the ornamental gourds will be a black-eye Susan vine. And the center of that side garden will be a tall pillar with a big container of something, haven't decided if it will be a big fuchsia or the wave petunia's for a big lush look of color. Depends on what color I need in that area, already allot of yellow, since it is the end of the pumpkin patch. So height is taken care of, and all the supports and the wall are downed trees, pretty cool. I will use the red cages for tomatoes and zucchini, the rest will be branches. Teepee's for the eggplants, pea sticks for the peas, and sweet peas. Rows will be tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and yellow and green beans. Beets, onions, carrots, cukes, yellow ones and pickling, zucchini. A big patch of dill and chives. Along the fence side of the garden will be a wall of pea sticks , outer sweet peas, center two types of peas. Then the tomato side of the garden a wall of marigolds, white pompom ones. And basil will be planted with the tomatoes. Lots of basil this year. Each tub will be at the front of the garden, one with herbs, sage, basil, thyme, and the other one blueberries. A Shepard's hook will be hanging between those with a strawberry set-up. Along the building side of the garden will be the wall of cosmos. And lots of pots of annuals and herbs. The Pumpkin patch will have two types of pumpkins, ornamental gourds, and a squash. A few Cosmo plants growing in between the plants. As it goes into the perennial section, that is mostly shade, so it will have a few bleeding hearts, and lily of the valley. Try a few other perennials see how things grow. And the sunflower garden, got bigger, but will plant the same amount, and a few shorter sunflowers, and the corner will have all the Iris's and the Hardy geranium. The same line of day lilies, a bit bigger just to add annuals now, but in the fall, allot of tulips will be going in all around the back yard.
